Technical meeting 2026: ENBL groups and key dates revealed

The 2026 European North Basketball league`s technical meeting concluded on Monday, August 24, at the AC Marriott hotel Riga in Latvian capital.
A 2026-2027 season format was officially announced.
The 18 teams, selected in two pools of nine, will play a round robin tournament with eight games for each team – four at home, four away – from September 22, 2026 until February 4, 2027.
Eight teams – A1, A2, A3, A4, B1, B2, B3, B4 – will advance to the 2027 ENBL playoffs.
Quarterfinals offer “best-of-two” home and away series (A1-B4, A2-B3, A3-B2, A4-B1; second game at the higher seed), scheduled on February 16 – March 18.
The winners will advance to the 2027 Final Four, to be held on April 6-8.

Croatian Basketball Federation – Hrvatski košarkaški savez – has joined forces with the European North Basketball league to field two Croatian teams selected in the ENBL Qualifying Tournament on September 17-20, 2026.
Four teams – KK Alkar, KK Dinamo Zagreb, KK Dubrava Zagreb, KK Zabok – will play a round robin tournament. The two best teams will advance to the 2026-2027 ENBL regular season.
(UPD on August 25) If Alkar Sinj qualifies, it will go to the Group B. The other three teams are from Zagreb and its vicinity.

BROADCASTS AND REFEREES
Every regular season game can be broadcasted by three parties – by local broadcaster, by visiting broadcaster and on the ENBL YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/c/ENBLeague .
Every playoff game will feature three neutral referees – from ENBL member countries – whenever possible, from the geographically closer ones.
The number of referees at the Final Four will increase from six to seven.
BALTIC WAY ANNIVERSARY GAME
Club representatives attended a friendly game between Latvia and Ukraine men`s national teams at the Xiaomi Arena on August 23.
The Inspiration Game was dedicated to the 37th anniversary of the Baltic Way – a 650 kilometers long human chain from Tallinn to Vilnius via Valga, Cēsis and Rīga on August 23, 1989.
The Baltic Way took place on the 50th anniversary of the Hitler-Stalin pact between two totalitarian regimes, dividing mutual spheres of influence in Eastern and Northern Europe.
A friendly game was followed by an ENBL hosted dinner.
