Second platinum album on the way: welcome, Tindastoll!


Tindastoll Saudarkrokur will play in the European North Basketball league for a second consecutive season.


When it comes to level of support from the local community, Iceland emerges as a clear frontrunner.


High North means a harsh climate and a warm humanity.


Tindastoll Saudarkrokur entered the European North Basketball league with a bang on and off the floor.


On October 1, 2025, Tindastoll held the 2025 Final Four hosts Slovan Bratislava to 56 points in a 80-56 road win at the iconic Gopass arena.


As many as 1200 people – FORTY SIX PERCENT of town`s population – filled the stands of the Sikio arena on Tuesday, October 14.


Tindastoll stormed past Gimle Basket, 125-88, to set multiple ENBL records.


Both teams combined for 213 points, the highest scoring game at the time.


Tindastoll became the first team in ENBL history, to score 125 points.


Iceland team also set a new league record in three pointers made, with 19 makes.


On January 6, 2026, Tindastoll erased an 13 points deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime at SIGAL Prishtina and secure a historic European playoff ticket after a 104-98 win.


Tindastoll finished the regular season with a 6-2 record – the sixth best result among 26 teams.


On March 11, 2026, Tindastoll hosted the first playoff game to fall at the hands of Riga Zelli, 94-101, and check out of their spectacular debut season.


Tindastoll entered the FIBA Europe Cup Qualifiers in 2023.


Iceland club defeated Parnu Sadam, 69-62, on October 3, 2023, and then lost to BC Trepca Mitrovica, 69-77.


Tindastoll basketball club was founded in 1964.


They advanced to the top division in 1989 and have been playing there, except two seasons.


Tindastoll reached finals in 2001, 2015, 2018, 2022, 2023 and 2025.


Saudarkrokur team won its first Icelandic championship in 2023, defeating Valur in the best-of-five series, 3-2.


The first trophy was won on January 13, 2018, when Tindastoll beat KR in the Iceland Cup final.


Eight month laters Tindastoll won the Iceland Super Cup too, defeating KR one more time.


Arnar Guðjónsson took the coaching reins in 2025.


He grew up in Borgarfjordur where the Sagas were written in the Middle Ages and was assistant at the Iceland national team from 2011 until 2018, helping it to qualify for EuroBasket 2015 and EuroBasket 2017.


Arnar Guðjónsson has also coached in Denmark, being an assistant (2013-2015) and then head coach (2015-2017) at the Svendborg Rabbits.


He is a three time Iceland Cup winner with Stjarnan (2019, 2020, 2022) and a Danish Cup winner (2014).


Petur Gudmundsson, the first non-American player drafted to the NBA, played for Tindastoll 1990-1992.


A 218cm tall center was selected in the third round of the 1981 NBA draft by the Portland Trail Blazers.


Saudarkrokur has a population of 2600.


Town is located 330 kilometers from Keflavik International airport (KEF).
