Gimle Basket is the second club from Norway to play in the European North Basketball league.

When it comes to basketball, Bergen is setting the trends in Norway.

Teams from the city of seven mountains have won four consecutive BLNO titles.

Now they are going international.

Gimle Basketballklub was founded in 1972 and has formed a full club pyramid since then.

Men`s team won Norway titles 1993, 2014, 2022 and 2023.

Women`s team has 11 national titles, the latest one in 2019.

Gimle Basket has the most junior titles.

Some well known players have played for Gimle Basket.

2025 ENBL champion Ainars Bagatskis helped Gimle Basket to win maiden title in 1993.

Bagatskis oldest son, Edvards, was born in Bergen.

Co-incidence or not, but he was named like world famous Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg.

Dejan Majstorovič played for Bergen in 2014 and later gained fame as a 3x3 basketball player.

Majstorovič won five World Cups with Serbia in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022 and 2023.

He was named the World Cup Most Valuable Player in 2017 and 2022.

Gimle Basket has multiple Norway national team players in its ranks – Hallvard Staff, Jørgen Odfjell, Milovan Savič, Haakon Ullrich and Espen Fjærestad.

Three more players have received invitations to participate in preseason camp.

Point guard Sigurd Lorange has returned to Norway after six years in the USA.

He played for the NCAA Division Two team Converse University Valkyries at Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Reidar Greve is back in Bergen after a season in Italy.

Elias Demoniere is the most talented young player.

The Reds will have the strongest roster during his tenure, according to General Manager Frederik Gnatt.

A high quality import player will be added to the roster.

Head coach Audun Eskeland is a former player himself.

Point guard won the 2014 title with Gimle Basket, averaging 14.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.4 assists.

Eskeland played together with Espen Fjærestad and Dejan Majstorovič.

Gimle Basket have red and white uniforms – red uniforms are allowed at the BLNO home games.

Bergen Airport (BGO) is the second busiest airport in Norway, located a few kilometers west of the city.
