HKK Zrinjski 1992 is the first team from Bosnia and Herzegovina to play in the European North Basketball league.
Bosnia and Herzegovina was a part of Yugoslavia from 1918 until its breakup in 1991.
Two most well known Bosnian basketball legends are Mirza Delibašić (1954-2001) and Dražen Dalipagić (1951-2025).
Shooting guard Delibašić, nicknamed Kinde, led Bosna Sarajevo to Euroleague title in 1979.
He won the 1978 World Cup in the Philippines, the EuroBasket 1975 in Belgrade and the EuroBasket 1977 in Liège.
In 2000, Delibašić was named Bosnia and Herzegovina`s Sportsman of the Century.
Small forward Dražen Dalipagić was born in Mostar and won numerous titles while playing together with Delibašić.
Nicknamed The Sky Jumper he scored at least 50 points in a game 15 times, including 70 points during a Serie A game between Venezia and Virtus Bologna on January 25, 1987.
Borislav Stanković, born in Bihać, served as the FIBA second Secretary General between 1976 and 2003.
Bosnia joined FIBA in 1992.
Zmajevi (the Dragons) or Zlatni ljiljani (the Golden Lillies) have participated 11 times in the EuroBasket: 1993, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2022, 2025.
Hrvatski Košarkaški Klub Zrinjski 1992 was founded in 2024 after a decision by Zrinjski board.
It is a part of the Zrinjski Mostar sport society.
Hrvatski športski klub Zrinjski Mostar was founded in 1905 – refounded in 1992 – and is the oldest football club in Bosnia.
In 2023, they became the first ever club from Bosnia to reach the group stage of a European club competition, the UEFA Europe Conference league.
