Capital of Belgium checks in: welcome, Brussels Basketball!

Brussels Basketball is the second club from Belgium to play in the European North basketball league.


It`s also the fourth team from the BNXT league which unites teams from Belgium and Netherlands.


Royal Liège Basket advanced to the 2024 Final Four and won the bronze medal.


Landstede Hammers Zwolle also played in 2023-2024 edition while Donar Groningen recently joined ENBL for the second consecutive season.


Belgium is a popular destination for hosting various European finals.


Country Hall Liège hosted the 1973 European Champions Cup final between Ignis Varese and CSKA Moscow.


Famous 1977 European Champions Cup semifinal game between CSKA and Maccabi Tel Aviv took place in Virton – a small Wallonia town, because there were no diplomatic relations between Soviet Union and Israel at the time.


Maccabi Tel Aviv prevailed and later won the whole thing, clinching first European title.


2002 opened Spiroudome Charleroi hosted ULEB Cup finals from 2004 to 2008 and the second leg of the 2015 EuroCup Women finals between Royal Castors Braine and Villeneuve d`Ascq.


Sportpaleis Antwerp won the rights to host the 2024 Olympic Qualifying tournament for Women, partly due to success of Belgium Women`s team, 2023 European Champion.


Sportpaleis with a capacity of 18 575 will co-host the EuroBasket Women 2027 together with Finland, Lithuania and Sweden, with Final Round to be played in Vilnius.


Brussels Basketball was founded in 1957.


The club played in lower divisions until 2005, when it moved to division 3, then in 2008 to division 2 and in 2013 finally reached the first division.


The Blue and White team reached the Belgium finals for the first time in 2017, after defeating Antwerp Giants in the semi finals.


Filou Oostende reign supreme in Belgium league, winning fourteen (!) consecutive titles from 2012.


Brussels Basketball posted a 25-11 record in the 2024-2025 BNXT league season, finishing fifth between 19 teams.


Capital team advanced to Belgium playoffs and lost the quarterfinal series against Limburg United, 0-2.


Brussels Basketball reached semifinals in 2016-2018.


After a successful 2015-2016 season, Brussels Basketball entered the FIBA Europe Cup for the first time, facing teams like Elan Chalon from France, Alba Fehervar from Hungary and Benfica Lisbon from Portugal.


Next season Brussels Basketball played at the 2017-2018 Basketball Champions league qualifiers where they lost at the third qualifying round against MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg from Germany.


The Blue and White returned to the FIBA Europe Cup after BCL qualifiers and entered competition again in 2019-2020 season.


They were drawn into Group E with the Turkish side Pinar Karsiyaka, Spirou Charleroi and Donar Groningen.


Brussels Basketball play their home games at the sports complex Neder-Over-Heembeek, capacity 1 200.


Brussels, being the seat of European Union and North Atlantic Treaty Organization, is well connected.


Capital is served by the Brussels Airport (BRU) at Zaventem and Brussels South Charleroi Airport (CRL) 50 kilometers south of the city.


French and Flemish speaking Belgium is also known for its dense rail network.


Eurostar trains connect Brussels with Lille, Paris and London via the Channel Tunnel as well as Amsterdam and Cologne.

Fun facts

Jean Marc-Jaumin coached Brussels Basketball from 2021-2023 and then guided Landstede Hammers Zwolle in their first ENBL campaign.


Latvian center Viktors Iļjins represented Brussels Basketball in 2020-2021 and then joined Valmiera Glass ViA to play some games at the ENBL inaugural season in 2021-2022.
