Spartak Pleven will continue to play in the European North Basketball league for a third consecutive season.

You need patience and hard work to achieve results on international stage.

For example, Formula One driver Nico Hülkenberg recently stepped on the podium for the first time in his 243rd race – and 240th start.

He first entered the 2010 Bahrain Grand Prix.

In fact, Hülkenberg won multiple championships before joining F1 and also won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 2015.

Eventually, if you are good enough, you will achieve your breakthrough.

Trust the process.

Spartak Pleven used their first season in the ENBL to return to Bulgarian semifinals after a one year hiatus.

They also made it to the Bulgarian Cup final, before falling at the hands of Burgas Chernomorets.

Last season, despite a poor start, ended in a similar way as Spartak Pleven returned to Bulgarian semifinals and were defeated by Rilski Sportist – again – in the best-of-five series, 1-3.

A bright spot was home win against Spišski Rytieri, 99-88, on February 4, 2025.

It marked the first time when there were no winless teams during the ENBL regular season.

Pleven is a historic city located 170 kilometres northeast of capital Sofia and approximately 160 kilometres south of Bucharest, Romania.

Basketball club Spartak Pleven was founded in 1947.

It was known under names of Spartak (1947-1993) and Plama (1993-1997) before rebranding itself as Spartak Pleven in 1997.

Pleven won two consecutive Bulgarian championships in 1995 and 1996.

They also won Bulgarian Cup in 1996.

Spartak Pleven reached the Bulgarian league semifinals in 2022, 2024 and 2025.

The club has six European campaigns under its belt.

Plama Pleven played in the FIBA European Cup (1994-1997), named after Raimundo Saporta, a former Real Madrid director.

The club also played at the EuroChallenge qualifiers in 2008.

Spartak has posted glorious victories over basketball giants like Real Madrid, Partizan Belgrade and Bešiktaš Istanbul.

Pleven`s home gym is a Balkanstroy Hall with a capacity of 1300.

Bulgaria is a full Schengen area member from 2025 and will join Eurozone in 2026.
