Super League Basketball club Bristol Flyers will play in the European North Basketball league for the fourth consecutive season.
On May 3, 2023, the Bristol Flyers officially joined the ENBL, becoming the first club from the United Kingdom to do so.
As of today, it`s the fourth team in league history to register for four consecutive seasons after Basket Brno, Valmiera Glass ViA and Tartu University.
The Flyers definitely have some good memories.
They have won nine road games in nine different countries.
The hit list in the debut season includes Spartak Pleven from Bulgaria, Start Lublin from Poland and Svendborg Rabbits from Denmark.
Season Two – Basket Brno from Czechia, Fyllingen Lions from Norway and Keila Coolbet from Estonia.
Season Three – Kapfenberg Bulls from Austria, Alkar Sinj from Croatia and Valmiera Glass ViA from Latvia.
Kapfenberg Bulls and Valmiera Glass ViA later advanced to the National Cup finals.
In fact, Valmiera won the Latvian Cup – the first title in club history, then defeated Tartu University at the 2026 Estonia and Latvia league final and now will play for the Latvian title against Ventspils.
Back to the Flyers – they advanced to the 2024 playoffs where they fell at the hands of two time Final Four participants Šiauliai from Lithuania.
This season they were inches away from making the 2026 playoffs after a 70-76 home loss against TalTech/ALEXELA.
I get knocked down but I get up again – you`re never gonna keep me down.
The lines from Chumbawamba hit single Tubthumping describe the Bristol Flyers well.
They are eyeing their 22nd season as they were established in 2005.
The club secured promotion to Basketball England’s NBL Division One in 2007, becoming National Cup Champions in 2010 and being crowned as Division One Champions in 2011.
In 2014, the club secured financial backing from Bristol Sport Ltd to enter the top-flight British Basketball League.
The Bristol Sport Ltd is owned by businessman Stephen Lansdown – it includes the clubs like Bristol City F.C. and Bristol Rugby.
The Flyers reached the BBL Cup Final in 2020 and the SLB Trophy Final in 2025.
The 2022-2023 season was another record-breaking year for the club, having secured the most single season wins in program history and a guaranteed top three finish.
Mike Beesley is a chairman of the club and Andreas Kapoulas is the head coach.
The Bristol Flyers are a year closer to playing in their new home at the Ashton Gate Sporting Quarter – the construction works started in 2025.
The Sports & Convention Centre will seat 5,000 fans – initially 3,600 – for multi sport events.
Bristol is built around the river Avon and has a population of 480 000.
The city is served by the Bristol International Airport (BRS) while the London Heathrow Airport (LHR) is around 100 miles/160 kilometers away.
