Voinalovych makes a game winner, Tartu emerge victorious in Szczecin


Andrii Voinalovych scored the last six points and blocked a three point attempt to lift Tartu University Maks&Moorits over Basket Brno 77-75 on Wednesday, November 30, at the Netto arena in Szczecin, Poland.

The game went down to the wire as the both teams exchanged blows along the road.


Andrii Voynalovych scored a game winning basket with eight seconds left 77-75.


Tartu power forward made all 10 attempts inside the three point line, including a 5-of-5 in the fourth quarter.


Young Ukrainian star had 25 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots.


Jalan McCloud did amazing job as he scored six points in the final frame, made three steals and helped to feed his big man.


A former Texas Southern and East Tennessee State point guard finished with 12 points.


McCloud added six assists and a game high four steals.


Tomaš Pavelka was one rebound short from double-double.


Slovak center posted 10 points and nine rebounds.


Kameron Chatman shined for Basket Brno.


A former Detroit forward scored 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the field.


Richard Balint had 16 points including a 3-of-7 effort from the three point line.


He registered three steals and two assists as well.


Oleksandr Mishula checked in with 10 points and five rebounds.


A guard, born in Dnipro, went 5-of-5 from the free throw line but struggled from the field.



Key stats

Tartu University outrebounded Basket Brno 40-30.


Nikolajs Mazurs team outscored the Czech team in the paint 44-24.


Voinalovych was a game changer as he went for a perfect 10-of-10 close to the basket.


His last six consecutive points decided the game in Tartu`s favor.


The Estonian team also registered three steals (11-8), thanks to McCloud`s efforts in the last 10 minutes.


Basket Brno outscored the opposing team from the deep (three pointers 4/20 vs 7/22) and registered a perfect 17-of-17 result from the charity stripe.



Game notes

Tartu played without Mart Rosenthal.


Both teams met twice during the inaugural ENBL season.


Brno won on both occasions, posting a 87-81 success in the regular season and a 80-76 win in the bronze medal game at Wloclawek.


Tartu University beat Basket Brno for the first time and started another season with a win.


A year ago the Estonians won the opening encounter against Liepāja 61-53.
