Riga Zelli posted second away win and defeated Go+ Peja, 83-72, on Tuesday, October 14, at the Pallati I Rhinise dhe Sporteva in Prishtina, Kosovo.
Players of the game
Toms Skuja missed the Riga Zelli home opener on October 4 due to being sick.
Ten days later he never missed inside the three point line.
Point guard finished with a game high 23 points on 10/13 shooting from the field, including a perfect 9/9 from the two point mark.
Skuja contributed with four assists and a team high three steals.
Frankie Fidler had another big night.
Michigan State shooting star had 22 points on 8/13 shooting from the field and a solid 6/7 from the charity stripe.
Roberts Bērziņš added fire power from the deep and made three threes to end with 12 points.
Tajh Green led Go+ Peja with 20 points.
A former Benedict College forward played for the Newcastle Eagles during the 2023-2024 season.
Dardan Berisha checked out with 13 points.
Peja captain – just like Green – entered his second season in the ENBL, as he played for SIGAL Prishtina before.
Cesare Edwards (Georgia State 2025) has seven points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in his European debut.
Key stats
Both teams struggled from the three point line – Riga Zelli shot 25 percent, 5/20; Peja shot 17 percent, 4/23.
The visitors were better shooters from all positions and it influenced the final outcome.
Riga Zelli scored a little more points off turnovers, 24-21.
Teams were tied in the paint, 42-42.
Game notes
Riga Zelli improved to 2-0, while Go+ Peja dropped to 0-1.
As mentioned before, Zelli suffered their single loss of the season without Skuja on the floor.
A 2-0 record on the road is a good founding stone enroute to the 2026 ENBL playoffs.
Peja head coach Greg Gibson debuted in the ENBL.
University of South Carolina at Aiken (NCAA D2) graduate has worked in Finland for many years.
Gibson coached at Kauhajoen Karhu (2003-2010, and led them to Korisliiga twice), Loiman Korikonkarit aka Nilan Bisons aka Loimaa Bisons (2010-2016), Kataja Basket (2016-2018) and BC Nokia.
The game between Go+ Peja and Riga Zelli was re-located from Peja to Prishtina.
