Together forever: welcome, Basket Brno!

Basket Brno will continue to play in the European North Basketball league.

Czech team, just like Tartu, has three ENBL seasons under its belt.

International basketball is in Brno`s DNA.

City hosted the 2010 Women`s World Cup together with Ostrava and Karlovy Vary.

Brno will serve as one of the four host cities for the Women`s EuroBasket 2025 together with Hamburg in Germany, Bologna in Italy and Athens in Greece.

Winning Group arena – capacity 7 700 – will also host the 2026 European Women`s Handball championship – together with partners from Poland, Slovakia, Romania and Turkey.

Last season Basket Brno finished Kooperativa NBL regular season with a 19-17 record.

Martin Vaněk and his men clinched fifth place in a 12 team competition.

They lost the quarterfinal series against the higher seeded Dečin, 0-4.

Perennial favorites Nymburk won the title, defeating Usti nad Labem, in the best-of-seven series, 4-1.

Vaněk took the coaching reins exactly one year ago – on June 12, 2023.

He worked as an assistant coach from 2017.

A playcaller from Nymburk worked also as a youth coach.

He has worked in the Czech U18 team as an assistant coach and earned tenth place at the 2022 European championship.

More changes are coming as Brno captain Jakub Krakovič recently ended his career.

One of the Vaněk assistants – Jan Pavlik – has accepted a job offer from the EuroLeague Women team USK Praha.

Jan Pavlik, nickname Vasil, played for Brno from 1996 until 2004, representing the city in 226 matches.

The Czech team made it to the 2022 ENBL Final Four and earned a bronze medal at Wloclawek.

Richard Balint was included in the All Star team.

A short time later Basket Brno won its first medal in the Czech league since 2007.

Basket Brno play at the STAREZ Arena Vodova.
