Return of the Rottweilers: Anwil to host Donar Groningen

One game is to be played on Thursday, September 24. The 2022 ENBL champions and the 2023 FIBA Europe Cup winners, Anwil Wloclawek, will host the 2026 Dutch Cup winners, Donar Groningen.

Series history: Anwil Wloclawek will face Donar Groningen for the first time in the ENBL.

The Rottweilers finished the 2021-2022 season with a 7-0 record.

On October 19, 2021, Anwil posted its first ENBL win, prevailing at Valmiera Glass ViA, 85-69.

On January 12, 2022, the Rottweilers hosted the first ENBL game at the Hala Mistrzów – Hall of the Champions – defeating Basket Brno, 86-82.

On March 9, 2022, Anwil secured the rights to host the first ENBL Final Four on April 6-7.

On April 7, 2022, Wloclawek club won the first international title in a packed final against Antanas Sireika led Šiauliai, 90-79.

Donar Groningen also has one of the biggest fanbases in the league.

Donar have a 0-1 record against the Polish teams, after losing at Dziki Warszawa, 79-95, on September 25, 2024.

Last season Donar made it to the ENBL quarterfinals for the first time, after posting a 5-3 record in the regular season and defeating BK Opava, 103-86, in the first round of the playoffs.

National championships: Orlen PLK is set to start on Friday, October 2.

Anwil will host Gornik Walbrzych on Monday, October 5.

BNXT league start is also scheduled on October 2.

Donar Groningen will travel to Kortrijk, Belgium.
