Fantastic Four save the day for Riga Zelli at Spartak Pleven

Riga Zelli trailed by 11 points midway the second quarter and regrouped for a 85-81 comeback win over Spartak Pleven on Tuesday, December 9, at the Balkanstroy hall in northern Bulgaria.


Players of the game

PJ Pegues had a relatively poor start but played an important role for Riga Zelli in their third win.


A former Furman and Auburn point guard scored 14 of his 24 points in the second half.


Pegues shot 5/13 from the three point line.


Frankie Fidler had 26 points on 9/19 shooting from the floor and a perfect 5/5 from the free throw line.


Michigan State standout filled the stat sheet with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.


Roberts Bērziņš contributed with 15 points on 4/8 shooting from the deep.


Last but not least, Rolands Šulcs added 13 points, including nine points after the halftime break.


Jalan McCloud led Spartak Pleven with 31 points on 9/22 shooting from floor and 9/11 from the charity stripe.


A former Texas Southern and East Tennessee State guard had a great game but missed a key three pointer with 50 seconds left.

First half offered exciting shootout between two players.


Jalen McCloud scored 23 points on 6/12 shooting from the field and 8/10 from the free throw line.


Frankie Fidler had 18 points on 6/10 shooting from the floor and 3/3 from the charity stripe.


JP Pegues and Roberts Bērziņš added fire power from the deep to put Riga Zelli ahead, 75-69, with four minutes left.


Rolands Šulcs joined the trio of his teammates and sank a pair of free throws with 12.8 seconds left, 85-81.


Spartak Pleven didn`t converted positional attacks in the last minute and scored only on fast break.


Fidler, Pegues, Bērziņš and Šulcs combined for 78 points.



Game notes

Riga Zelli improved to 3-3, while Spartak Pleven dropped to 2-3.


Juris Umbraško and his men ended a three game losing streak in the ENBL.


Spartak Pleven lost a third consecutive game after a 2-0 start.


Riga Zelli completed a road stretch with a 3-1 record and delivered first home loss for Spartak.
