Aggressive Valmiera go hard, victorious Dziki return to the quarters


Valmiera Glass ViA never trailed more than 15 points and numerous times cut the hosts lead to single digits but Dziki Warszawa eventually defeated the 2026 Latvian Cup champions, 97-84, to return to the ENBL quarterfinals where they will face the winners of the duel between Iraklis BC and TalTech/ALEXELA.

Five Dziki players scored 12 or more points.


Catch and shoot sniper Grzegorz Kaminski had 19 points on 5/9 shooting from the three point line.


A former Columbus State star Landrius Horton again delivered for the Wild, finishing with 18 points.


Rivaldo Soares and Lukasz Frackiewicz scored 14 points each.


Tahlik Chavez had 12 points, while athletic Ody Oguama registered eight points and 10 rebounds.


The 2026 Latvian Cup Most Valuable Player Dominykas Stenionis led Valmiera Glass ViA with a game high 23 points.


Aniwaniwa Tait Jones had 15 points.


Valmiera newcomer AJ Pacher contributed with 14 points and nine rebounds.



Key stats

Dziki Warszawa shot 68 percent inside the arc, 26/38.


It`s difficult to defeat athletic team of shooters but Valmiera never gave up – until the penultimate minute at least.


The visitors rallied every time when Dziki lead reached double digits.


Valmiera core of seven – starters Stenionis, Tait Jones, Ate, Kohs, Pajič, plus second unit Vītols and AJ Pacher – immediately returned into the chase and trailed by six points, 87-81, with 4.25 left.


It was then when Valmiera – pressured by foul trouble – started to lose their edge.


Latvian team didn`t registered a single field goal after that while Dziki finished the game on a 10-3 run.


Valmiera fighters won the offensive glass, 13-16, and turned the ball over just 11 times but missed their final opportunities.



Game notes

Dziki Warszawa improved to 6-3, while Valmiera Glass ViA finished their season with a winning 5-4 record.


The Polish team registered its fourth consecutive home win.


Valmiera Glass ViA went 2-3 on the road, including wins at Donar Groningen and TalTech/ALEXELA.


Shootout to first year head coach Kaspars Vecvagars, his assistants Gunārs Gailītis and Normunds Lišiks.


Dziki Warszawa returned to the ENBL quarterfinals – first time with Marco Legovich at the steering wheel.


They will learn their quarterfinal opponents on March 11, when Iraklis BC will host TalTech/ALEXELA.


Cezary Trybański – first Polish born player in the NBA – attended the game.
