Rickey McGill – ENBL MVP 2024!




Rickey McGill is the Most Valuable Player of the 2023-2024 regular season.


Seriös Group Newcastle Eagles guard guided his team to a 5-2 record in Group B and a historic trip to the 2024 ENBL playoffs.


McGill has averaged 16.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 3.7 steals in seven games for an efficiency rating of 20.7.


He shot 48.0% from the two point line (24/50) and 24.5% from the three point line (13/53) as well as 84.8% from the charity stripe (28/33).


Rickey McGill ties the fourth place in assists and leads the league in steals made along with his teammate Larry Austin Jr (3.2 steals per game).


McGill set a new ENBL record and registered eight steals in a 90-74 road win against Valmiera on November 7, 2023.


Guard posted double figures in six games and had two double-doubles in two wins over Royal Liège Basket and Keila Coolbet.


McGill scored 26 points and dished out 11 assists in a 100-92 home win against Liège on January 23, 2024.


He added 26 points and 11 rebounds in a 92-84 road win against Keila on January 31, 2024.


A Spring Valley, New York native was born on June 19, 1997 – his birthdate co-incides with a federal holiday known as a Juneteenth, honoring anniversary of June 19, 1865, when Major General Gordon Granger ordered the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas.


He became the all time scoring leader at the Spring Valley High School, finishing with 1 463 points.


McGill played for the Iona Gaels – a well known NCAA team just outside the New York City.


Guard won four consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) tournament titles with the Gaels, 2016-2019.


McGill was recognized as the 2019 MAAC Championship Most Outstanding Player.


He started his professional career right after the college career. McGill has played for Panionios in Greece (2019-2020), Plymouth Raiders in the British Basketball league (2020-2021), Rapla KK in Estonia (fall 2021), Soproni KC in Hungary (2021-2022) and the Franklin Bulls in New Zealand.


McGill joined the Newcastle Eagles in a summer of 2023.
