Polski Cukier Start Lublin win Group A


Five players finished in double figures as Polski Cukier Start Lublin celebrated a 82-68 win over Budivelnyk Kyiv and topped the Group A on Monday, February 6, at the Globus arena in eastern Poland.

No Lublin player scored more than 13 points but nine of them scored at least five points each.


Klāvs Čavars led the way with a Dirty Dozen on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from the free throw line.


Latvian center grabbed a game high nine rebounds too.


Gabe DeVoe added 12 points on 4-of-9 accuracy inside the three point line and a 4-of-7 from the charity stripe.


Clemson shooting guard forced five fouls.


Michal Krasuski chipped in with 11 points, including a perfect 3-of-3 from the deep.


Illya Tyrtyshnyk led all scorers with 19 points.


Budivelnyk point guard made 6-of-6 attempts from the three point line!


Volodymyr Koniev added 14 points.


A 33 year old captain plays with a jersey number 33.


He had a a team high eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.


Maksym Sandul scored 13 points.

Polski Cukier Start Lublin outrebounded Budivelnyk, 38-31.


The Poles scored more points in the paint, 36-26, and more second chance points, 12-6.


Lublin turned the ball over just 12 times, compared to 19 for Kyiv.


The hosts bench outscored the Kyivites, 35-26.


Lublin jumped infront for a quick 31-18 lead.


Artur Gronek`s team never trailed after that.


Budivelnyk cut the gap to six points, 70-64, with 05:27 left but scored four points the rest of the way.


Game notes

Budivelnyk has a tough schedule, split between numerous leagues.


The main squad won the FIBA Europe Cup road game on February 1 over Karhu Basket, 65-62.


Valeriy Plekhanov`s team has a 7-4 record in the competition and will face Patrioti Levice on February 8.


The Builders need to beat a Slovak team or hope for Hapoel Haifa loss at the Karhu Basket on Tuesday.
