Landstede Hammers outlast Start Lublin, two play-off pairs set




Landstede Hammers Zwolle survived a three pointer rain in the third quarter and battled back to defeat Polski Cukier Start Lublin, 93-91, to secure the fifth place in Group A on Wednesday, February 7, at the Hala Globus in eastern Poland.

Players of the game

Jack Pagenkopf hit a huge three pointer for the Landstede Hammers with 02:26 left.


He cut the gap to a single point, 86-87.


Forty five seconds later he did it again, 89-90.


It was the last field goal but the Hammers outscored Start from the free throw line.


A former Utah Tech guard finished the game with 17 points on 6/12 shooting from the field.


Pagenkopf went 4/8 from the three point line.


Zwolle guard added seven assists and two steals before he was fouled out.


Noah Dickerson finished the job for the Hammers.


A former Washington Huskies center had 15 points on 5/7 shooting from the court and very, very important 5/6 effort from the charity stripe.


Dickerson had eight rebounds and a game high +/- ratio 12.


Coen Stolk led all scorers with 22 points.


Small forward contributed with five rebounds and five assists.


Trey Wade was the go-to man for Polski Cukier Start Lublin.


A former Arkansas Razorback had 11 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.


Liam O`Reilly posted 19 points, eight assists and three steals.


Tomislav Gabrič scored 12 points on 4/6 shooting from the three point line.



Key stats

Landstede Hammers started strong and increased their lead up to 12 points at the half, 49-37.


Polski Cukier Start Lublin scored seven (!) three pointers in the third quarter to regain initiative, 65-69.


Artur Gronek`s team stayed in the lead, however, the Hammers were in a hunting mode.


Two daggers by Pagenkopf turned the tide as the hosts didn`t converted a single field goal after that.


Landstede Hammers eventually went 15/37 from the three point line, compared to 15/33 for Start.


ENBL record stands at 17 three pointers.



Game notes

Landstede Hammers Zwolle improved to 3-3, while Polski Cukier Start Lublin dropped to 3-4.


The Hammers have secured the fifth place in Group A but may finish with a winning record.


Polski Cukier Start Lublin ended their second ENBL campaign with the sixth place.


Tartu Ülikool Maks&Moorits finished in the third place, thanks to a Zwolle win.


Bristol Flyers are in the fourth place.

Format

Four best teams from each group will qualify for the playoffs (A1-B4, A2-B3, A3-B2, A4-B1).


The 2024 playoffs – home and away, best-of-two series – will take place from February 15 until March 20.


The 2024 Final Four will take place on April 9-10.
