Faynetastic: Szczecin starters beat Trefl Sopot in clutch time


King Wilki Morskie Szczecin starters scored 24 points in the fourth quarter to complete a 81-77 comeback win against Trefl Sopot on Monday, November 28, at the Netto arena in Szczecin, Poland.

King Szczecin power forward Phil Fayne stepped up when it mattered the most.


Illinois State star scored 11 of his 15 points in the fourth quarter, including a 3-of-4 shooting close to the basket and 5-of-6 from the charity stripe.


Fayne forced a game high six fouls and was unstoppable in the clutch time.


Bryce Brown stole the ball and put the hosts ahead with 07:47 left.


He forced a crucial foul seven minutes later and scored the game winning free throws with 22 seconds to go.


A Stone Mountain, Georgia native scored a team high 16 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field.

The Sea Wolves starters combined for 63 points.


Trefl Sopot won the first half 37-40.


The sea resort team increased its lead up to 11 points after Wesley Gordon`s alley oop 47-58.


King Szczecin regrouped and doubled efforts in the paint.


The hosts finished the game with a 34-19 run.

Arkadiusz Miloszewski`s men registered their first win in the ENBL.


Trefl Sopot has a 8-1 record at the Energa Basket Liga, trailing only to Slask Wroclaw.


King Szczecin has six wins and three losses so far.


Trefl Sopot won six consecutive games at the PLK and suffered its only defeat on October 9 at the hands of Polski Cukier Start Lublin.


King Szczecin and Trefl Sopot will meet again on January 9, 2023.
