Vidzeme Olympic Center (VOC) will host the first stage of the European North Basketball league on October 19-20, 2021.
The opening stage will feature four teams – Valmiera GLASS VIA (Latvia), Anwil Włocławek (Poland), Tartu Ülikool Maks & Moorits (Estonia) and Liepāja (Latvia).
Vidzeme Olympic Center has hosted several high profile basketball events, including FIBA U16 European Championship for Women (2007), EuroBasket Women 2009 (group stage), 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship for Men (group stage) and many more.

The Latvian government declared a state of emergency for the third time in two years. The current state of emergency is in force from October 11, 2021 to January 11, 2022, and may be extended after that just like in two previous occasions.
The following rules must be followed during a state of emergency.
1) Masking mandate indoors for all adults, except the players and coaches.
2) Entrance only with a valid certificate – QR code in a paper or digital format.
3) Attendance at a maximum 60% capacity.
