Davis nails it at the buzzer, Šiauliai erase a 19 points deficit against the Eagles

Jonathan Davis hit the game winning two points at the buzzer to lift Šiauliai over the Seriös Group Newcastle Eagles, 94-92, on Wednesday, October 4, at the Šiauliai arena in Lithuania.

Jonathan Davis did it again.


With game being tied at 92, point guard received the ball and made the game winning shot to secure the second win for the Yellow Devils.

A former Charlotte 49er (2015-2019) scored 11 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter.


Davis went 10-of-17 from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 from the charity stripe.


He added a team high five assists.

Leonard Thorpe Junior played another huge role in a comeback win.


A 24 year old guard (UNC Asheville 2022) posted 21 points on 7-of-9 shooting inside three points line and a 7-of-8 effort from the free throw line.

Paulius Danusevicius chipped in with 19 points, including some big baskets in the final frame.


Jordan Nathaniel Johnson led the Eagles with 28 points.


A former Milwaukee and UNLV floor general had a stellar first half as he scored 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field.

He showed tenacity in defense and stole the ball four times.

Tajh Green (Benedict College 2022) scored 13 of his 15 points in the first half.


Rickey McGill (Iona 2015-2019) made six steals tying an ENBL record.

The Newcastle Eagles had a massive first half.


Marc Steutel`s team stormed out of the gates for a 44-52 lead.


Johnson and Green combined for 31 points in the first 20 minutes of play.

The Eagles controlled the offensive boards (5-10) and steals (4-10).

Newcomers extended their lead up to 19 points, 53-72, with 13:25 to go.


Davis and Thorpe answered with nine consecutive points to cut the gap to 10 points, 64-74, before the final 10 minutes.

Šiauliai guard duo and Paulius Danusevičius scored 23 points in the fourth quarter to finish the comeback.


Larry Austin Jr tied the game at 92 with 55 seconds left but the Eagles wasted the final attack.


The British club violated the three seconds rule in the paint and the ball returned to the hosts with 15 seconds to go.


Game notes

Šiauliai improved to 2-1, while the Newcastle Eagles dropped to 0-1.


Marc Steutel`s team was ahead for almost 30 minutes but missed its last chance.

The Eagles won the battle of the rebounds (31-35) especially on the offensive end (6-19).


Their defense was on top level (steals 5-16, turnovers 23-15) but it wasn`t enough.


Nikolajs Mazurs team erased a 19 points deficit.
